Camp Activities

During those hot summer days there is nothing better than jumping into a cool swimming pool.  TRAILS has partnered with the YMCA to provide weekly trips to the Ellwood City Pool.
CEF provides exciting and fun-filled bible lessons and activities for children during three weeks of the summer for Hayes Campers.  During one week CEF will travel to Harmony Dwellings, Pleasant View, and Morado Dwellings and provide 1.5 hrs. of programming in the midst of other activities.  For and additional 2 weeks in August, Hayes Campers will have the opportunity to attend an all day camp hosted by CEF, most likely at Prayer Mountain (just outside Chippewa, on Rt. 51). Parent: You can visit CEF online for more information.
TRAILS believes in the importance of providing opportunities for kids to get out of their normal environments.  Hayes Campers have the opportunity to attend a week-long camp Promise Camp for a week!  TRAILS will cover the price of the camp for every child! Watch the Promise Camp Video
Kids will be involved in daily craft activities at Hayes Summer Camp.  In addition, TRAILS partners with other community organizations to provide opportunities for kids to be imaginative.  Kids will get to bring home most projects that they have created.
Eastvale Reformed Presbyterian Church invites all Hayes Summer Campers to attend their week-long vacation bible school which will be incorporated into the camp schedule.  Campers sing psalms, play games, and hear a message from the Bible.
Many local agencies and ministries, including The Women Center, Gateway Youth Program, and the District Attorney’s Office bring guest speakers and activities to Hayes Summer Camp.  Topics discussed include bullying, “safe touch bad touch”, and drug and alcohol education.
Hayes Campers get to enjoy several field trips throughout the summer.  Two of campers’ favorites are the Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium and going to a Pittsburgh Pirate Game.
A little bit of tag, a little bit of capture the flag… this is a uniquely developed sport for Hayes Summer Camp that the kids loved last year!
Through a partnership with Seeds of Hope, kids will be a part of a new Community Garden being established at the Mt. Washington Apartments. Kids will be offered activities such as creating stepping stones, caring for plants, and food projects.
Partnerships are still being worked out to provide youth with multiple experiences connecting them to the outdoors.  A possible fishing workshop may be offered, as well as a farming workshop and/or on-site experiential educational workshops inviting youth to taste and smell and see elements of the world that they may have never appreciated before.
The Carnegie Free Library of Beaver Falls is excited to partner with TRAILS to help make summer a time of fun, discovery, and growth for kids and teens.  We will explore different topics each week, and our hands-on STEAM programming is designed to engage minds and imaginations.
